Fascinating video in which Neurobiologist Dr. Robert Sapolsky explains the origins and effects of the parasite which causes Toxoplasmosis. Formerly discussed in Mep Report 62, Toxoplasmosis is the highly common stomach parasite that was believed to be asymptomatic in humans until it was discovered that it subtly changes people’s behavior, especially towards their willingness to put themselves at risk.
More French animation for you armchair existentialists out there. The piece is actually called “Le Dimanche.” I feel like this may become a non-English language blog if the French can maintain this kind of viral output.
The world’s eyes will be on the 2010 World Cup for the next month. I will be celebrating by playing a bunch of FIFA video games, and even more when I visit Russ later this month and we play our chosen team of destiny, Denmark, against the world.
Russ has way more footage that’s unprocessed, but here’s a little taste of what that looks like:
As a content wrangler for video aggregator Frequency, I have found myself plumbing the depths of the internet in an even deeper capacity than in my Mep post searchings. And, occasionally I come upon nuggets that simply aren’t appropriate for a professional wrangler to be recommending to his new employers. So, I think that my Mep forays are about to get a little darker and weirder, as I refuse to let these strange pieces languish in total obscurity.
Our first treasure in the NSFW archive is called “Vacuus Numb.” Its characters’ paralysis induced by the nearby flickering box, is probably some kind of media consumption critique. As it stands, I mostly see Irresistible French Existentialist Artsy Weirdness.
While I’m always susceptible to any video that has been auto-tuned, this one, in particular, strikes a chord.
It seems inevitable that our species’ faculties of curiosity and a sense of manifest destiny will lead us to settle off of Earth eventually. However, the longer we wait to plant the seed of humanity elsewhere, the longer we will have all of our eggs in one basket. And that basket is an increasingly dangerous one to linger in…
In case you’re not as into sports as we here at The Mep Report are, you might have missed this little gem from last night: the worst call in the history of professional baseball. Not that we ever engage in hyperbole anyway, but just in case you’re tempted to think that’s what I’m engaging in here, I give you umpire Jim Joyce and one hard luck pitcher called Armando Galarraga.
Yesterday I posted an infantile dancing man/tiger hybrid that was immediately redacted from the internet. In its place I give you an incredibly vivid, tiger-themed sci-fi music video. Ah, the Yin and Yang of the Internets.
