Slow News Day (or the Death of Michael Jackson)
We here at TMR usually pride ourselves on the ability to wade through the internet’s digital morass of celebrity nonsense, gadget fetishism, and vacuous top-10 lists, to bring you something unique and substantive every day. Today I’m going to have to temporarily surrender.
You see, a certain unnamed former sexpot and pop-star died today. Therefore, there is no other news.
Emu POTW: A Glimpse of Everything
This mashup via “directorial collective,” Crush, is comprised of over 400 intertwined video pieces. The result is a little overwhelming — it’s hard to know where to focus your attention. I found myself drawn to the giant wormhole into nothing on the third tier — and then found a line of treadmill runners to the left. Overall, it’s a strangely addictive mishmash.
Sci-Fi Movie Timeline
Terrific idea from Dan Meth to compile many of the most popular forward-looking movies and see what year they portray.
I think we should turn this map into a celebration schedule a la the Chinese Zodiac. According to which, this year would be the year of Freejack. Emilio Estevez would finally have his time to shine. And, as an added bonus, we could kick off another Rolling Stones worldwide tour to pay homage to Mick Jagger’s character.
Speaking of Mashups…
I’m in a trailer-y mood, having spent the better part of the weekend on Smith & Zod. Here’s an amazing MacGuyver/Star Wars union that I missed the first time around…
Smith & Zod
And now, the world premiere of a new Mep trailer…
Everyone needs to be loved, even evil alien superbeings and cyber constructs. The following short is a tale of a love so powerful, it crossed movie trilogies, genders, and even parallel universes to come true.
This is the tale of Smith & Zod.
Feel free to Digg this video.
Madison Avenue Blues
This ad man’s ballad is almost as touching as the original.
Star Wars: The Backfilling Continues
Admittedly righteous trailer for new game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
That’s not to say I can’t nitpick a little. I mean, aren’t these Boba Fett-gadget types getting a little bit overpowered (a la Iron Man on steroids)? The one in the trailer seems like she could take out the entire Jedi brigade by herself.
And does every Sith Lord have to have the full-body cybernetic breathing suit? Is there no other way to use the Dark Side without suffering full-body disfigurement? Meh.
You can watch the trailer here.
(Removed the embed because it was annoying as all get out.)
Bruno ‘Kugel-Sacks’ Eminem
This confrontation between Sacha Cohen’s Bruno, and homophobic caricature, Eminem seems totally genuine. I mean, obviously, Cohen was rigged to land on Mr. Mathers, but having seen 8-mile, I doubt the rapper could conjure up a batch of fake indignation.
To any confused conservatives out there, this is what is meant by ‘teabagging.’
